Slew of iPhone info Our sister site iPhone Atlas has posted a bevy of information on the iPhone today, including a report that the iPhone will have no functionality without activation (no iPod, nor presumably WiFi), notes that the device's installed software and OS will occupy 750 MB of memory, rate plan details, and news that activation will take place through iTunes rather than in-store.

Core 2 Duo gains 1.33 GHz bus MacUser reports that Core 2 Duo chips from Intel (currently used in all shipping Macs except the Mac Pro) will soon feature 1.33 GHz frontside busses. "As quad core chips become more common and the clock speeds increase in the Core 2 Duo chips, (the extra bus speed) becomes a necessity [...]. However, considering these particular chips are designed for desktop use, we may not see them in a Mac any time soon (if ever). Apple?s already set the precedent for using only laptop chipsets in all Macs save the Mac Pro." More.

Apple 4th in Retail Notebook Sales BetaNews reports that Apple's share of the retail notebook marked jumped to 14.3 percent in May from 12.5 the month before, as the company placed fourth in a list compiled by NPD Group. Apple now trails only HP, Toshiba and Gateway, although Dell is not included in retail sales counts. More.
