RealNetworks offers Rhapsody for the Mac Digit Magazine reports that music service provider, RealNetworks, will open its subscription-based Rhapsody streaming music service to users of the Macintosh and Linux operating systems. "The company has expanded the service to these platforms by launching Rhapsody.com, a new Web site that company executives said will offer all users the core of the Rhapsody experience." More.

Digital photo printing easier, cheaper The Associated Press reports on the ease with which users can now purchase digital photo prints online. "More than two-thirds of the estimated 17 billion prints from digital cameras made this year were created from the comfort of snap-happy American homes. Another 27 percent came from the photofinishing services of retailers, where people either use the self-serve computer terminals at the counter or place their orders online for pickup later at the store. The remainder, according to market researcher IDC, were delivered straight to consumers via online services that nowadays charge as low as a dime a print, not counting shipping costs." More.

Apple's iMac G5 earns a hearty recommendation Walt Mossberg says that no Windows-based desktop computer can match the functional superiority of Apple's iMac G5 with built-in iSight. "We've been testing this new iMac, and our verdict is that it's the gold standard of desktop PCs. To put it simply: No desktop offered by Dell or Hewlett-Packard or Sony or Gateway can match the new iMac G5's combination of power, elegance, simplicity, ease of use, built-in software, stability and security. From setup to performing the most intense tasks, it's a pleasure to use. And, contrary to common misconceptions, this Mac is competitively priced, when compared with comparably equipped mid-range Windows PCs; and it handles all common Windows files, as well as the Internet and email, with aplomb."
