QuickTime Update Adds Apple TV Support CrunchGear reports that buried inside all of QuickTime 7.1.5 is an option called 'Export to Apple TV.' "What does it do? It exports videos for your Apple TV in high-def so you can actually put that 42-inch Plasma to use. The feature will export videos to a 720×404 or 1280×720 (720p) resolution movie file using the H.264 codec, which is equal to that of a DVD-quality flick." More.

Apple TV may 'transform video industry' - analyst Macworld UK reports that the release of the Apple TV has driven Think Equity analyst Jonathan Hoopes to reiterate his 'Buy' rating on Apple, citing a $120 price target on the stock. "The analyst believes the combined punch offered by the device in combination with Apple's industry-leading iTunes Store could transform the video industry in the same way as the iPod and iTunes changed the music business." Apple offers to make amends, while Disney clears Jobs in stock options probe PC Pro reports that Disney has cleared Steve Jobs of any wrongdoing in options backdating at Pixar, and Apple is making amends to shareholders in a similar backdating issue. "In an email to options holders, posted on the US SEC website, (Apple) has offered to amend the price at which the stock options were secured so that holders may avoid liability for tax, and make up the shortfall by issuing each with a cheque for the appropriate amount. The payments would be made 'on or promptly following' 25 January next year." More.
