PiperJaffray puts $100 price target on Apple shares CBS MarketWatch reports that broker PiperJaffray upped its price target on Apple stock from $52 to $100 - close to double the stock's price on Friday - citing findings from its own survey of iPod users. "We believe that the remarkable satisfaction with the iPod creates a word-of-mouth wildfire that generates new customer interest in Apple products," the broker told clients. The $100 price target means the stock would trade at 37 times the broker's calendar 2006 earnings and cash estimate per share. "While this multiple is a premium to the comp group, we believe it is warranted given the growth potential of the iPod and its carryover to the core Mac business," the broker said. More.

iPods banned from pre-game NBA warm-ups CNET reports that the National Basketball Association has notified Toronto Raptors' shooting guard Vince Carter that using the iPod during pregame warm-ups violates the league's dress code. "John Lashway, vice president of communications for the Raptors, said the iPod ban applies only to the warm-up just prior to the game and that Carter could still listen to his iPod in practice or earlier on game days." Lexmark accused of installing spyware A Usenet news group has claimed that Lexmark is installing spyware on its customers' computers. ZDNET UK reports "Allegations have been swirling around an online newsgroup this week that printer manufacturer Lexmark has been installing spyware on its customers' computers. Reports on the comp.periphs.printers Usenet newsgroup claim that Lexmark has been planting spyware on its customers' PCs in the form of undocumented software that monitors the use of its printers and silently reports back to a Lexmark-owned company Web site."
