Logitech Unveils Motorized Mouse TechWeb reports that Logitech on has introduced a motorized computer mouse for people who scroll through lengthy documents and spreadsheets. "The MX Revolution, which costs $100, can scroll through 10,000 lines of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet in seven seconds, as opposed to seven minutes for the average person spinning a mouse wheel manually, the Fremont, Calif.-based, company said. The average person spins a scroll wheel about 26 feet during an eight-hour day." More.

Qantas ban may extend to Mac laptops APC Magazine reports that Qantas is seeking advice on whether it should place restrictions on the use of Apple Mac notebooks on its aircraft, following the computer maker's recall of 1.8 million batteries today. "A Qantas spokesman told APC this afternoon that the company was seeking further information on the precise risk posed by the batteries in Apple PowerBooks and iBooks, and whether they posed the same risk as Dell batteries. 'We have put limitations on Dell computers and at this stage we are awaiting further information from Apple,' said the spokesman." More.

Sony Shares Fall After Apple Recalls Laptop Batteries Bloomberg reports that shares of Sony Corp., the world's second-largest maker of rechargeable batteries, fell to a one- month low after Apple became the second company in two weeks to recall the cells, which may overheat and cause burns. "Sony fell 2 percent to 5,000 yen as of 10:24 a.m. in Tokyo. Apple yesterday recalled 1.8 million notebook computer batteries made by Sony, a week after Dell Inc. issued a similar recall. Tokyo-based Sony said today in a statement the measures by the computer makers will cost it as much as 30 billion yen ($257 million) and it doesn't anticipate further recalls." More.
