Joy of Tech Paris Expo comic The Joy of Tech has posted a new comic focusing on Apple's possible announcements at the expo in Paris this week. The staff writes "As is our tradition during Mac expos, we're running Expo-related comics on the Joy of Tech. Today's is a little wishful thinking, a little perk-me-up for those who have been down in the 15" PowerBook dumps lately. Hopefully we'll all be breaking out into song soon." More.

The concept of "everywhere audio" The New York Times is running an interesting article about "everywhere audio," a concept record companies are exploring as a possible option to battle file swapping. "Their vision might be called 'everywhere Internet audio.' Music fans, instead of downloading files on KaZaA - whether they were using computers, home stereos, radios or handheld devices - would have access to all music the record companies hold in their vaults. Listeners could request that any song be immediately streamed to them via the Internet. If consumers could do this, the argument goes, they would have no interest in amassing thousands of songs on their hard drives. There would be no 'theft' of music, because no one would bother to take possession of the song." More.

Cell phone calls routed to home with new device David Pogue describes a new device called "FastForward" from Cingular that will allow cell phone calls to be routed to a landline. "The implications of this simple idea, though, constitute a much broader topic. In fact, you could write a whole column on it. For you, the consumer, this elegant device confers a number of benefits. First, you save all kinds of money, because the rerouted calls don't use up any of your monthly cellular minutes. Incoming calls behave exactly as though your callers dialed your home or office number directly." More.
