Jobs not interested in Disney; to spend more time with Apple The Associated Press reports that Steve Jobs said he had no interest in becoming an executive of Disney, and rather intends to spend more time with Apple in the wake of the $7.4 billion Pixar acquisition that made Jobs the largest Disney shareholder. "A shareholder at the annual meeting at Apple's headquarters asked Jobs if he had any interest in becoming the Michael Eisner of Disney, referring to the company's former longtime CEO, and Jobs quipped he did not want to be Eisner. A feud between the two executives nearly threatened the profitable relationship between Pixar and Disney before Jobs hammered out the Disney-Pixar acquisition deal in January with Eisner's replacement, Robert Iger." The return of iPod Mac booting A Playlist article notes that the introduction of USB 2.0 booting capabilities on Intel-based Macs revives the iPod as a suitable booting platform. "hough it's a feature many never took advantage of, the first several generations of full-sized iPod?specifically those that supported FireWire syncing?were capable of booting a Macintosh. Just plug the iPod into your Mac's FireWire port, run the OS X installer, select the iPod as the destination disk, and, if the iPod has enough space to allow, you can install a bootable system on the iPod. When Apple abandoned FireWire syncing, the bootable iPod also disappeared. Until now. Apple's Intel-based Macs can boot from compatible USB 2.0 hard drives. The 5G iPod happens to be just such a compatible USB 2.0 hard drive." More.
