Intel, AMD duking it out for non-Mac 64-bit According to analysts, Intel Corp.'s addition of 64-bit extensions to its 32-bit Xeon line could force Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s own 64-bit processor line to compete on price, not technology. eWeek reports "Intel chief executive Craig Barrett announced that the company's code-name Nocona, a two-way server processor and a member of its Xeon line, will add the 64-bit extensions beginning in the second quarter. And a 'Potomac' derivative designed for servers with the extensions will enter the market early next year, the company said." More.

iTunes-Pepsi promo hacked News.com reports that iTunes users have "hacked" a high-profile Pepsi promotion aimed at giving away 100 million songs through special codes marked on the underside of bottle caps. "It is not only possible to pick out winning bottles in advance; careful scrutiny can reveal the full 10-digit redemption code, meaning no purchase is required to get a free iTunes single courtesy of Pepsi."
