IDG Plays Hardball with Apple After Apple announced last week that it would not be participating in 2004's Summer Macworld Expo because of the show's move to Boston, IDG said it may not let Apple exhibit at Macworld San Francisco. A Boston Globe report reads "If Apple won't participate in the Boston Macworld show, maybe Greco won't let the company display its wares at Macworld in Tokyo or Paris, or at the San Francisco show in Apple's backyard." WiebeTech Posts ATA-6/FireWire Guide WiebeTech LLC has posted a brief White Paper on its website which explains the evolution of FireWire bridges to ATA-6 support. The paper explains the technical evolution of the Oxford FireWire OXFW911 bridge that allows it to provide support for high capacity ATA6 drives, such as IBM or Western Digital's recent shipment of 180GB drive mechanisms. Agere files patent suit over Wi-Fi CNET reports that Wi-Fi chipmaker Agere Systems has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against rival Intersil. The lawsuit alleges that Intersil has been using Agere's patented wireless techniques in Intersil chipsets without paying for the right to do so. Agere has patented six wireless techniques, all involving the 802.11b standard. More.
