New Competitors Can't Measure Up to iPod Standards Writing for the Washinton Post, Rob Pegoraro opines on why, with such fierce competition, the iPod remains insuperable. "For all the success of Apple's iTunes Store, most digital music still consists of MP3 files, which anybody can build a device to play. And anytime one company must compete with the collective talent of everybody else in the world, it should be lucky to grab one-third of the market. Instead, Apple owns more than 70 percent of it and has wiped the likes of Sony and Dell off the map." More.
Apple and SecureWorks begin working together Macworld reports that after months of bantering about wireless security issues, Apple and security research firm SecureWorks are now working together, the companies confirmed on Friday. A press statement reads "SecureWorks and Apple are working together in conjunction with the CERT Coordination Center on any reported security issues. We will not make any additional public statements regarding work underway until both companies agree, along with CERT/CC, that it is appropriate." More.
