Buyers of VW Bugs to get free iPods For a limited time, buyers of new Volkswagen Beetles will receive a free 15 GB Apple iPod. Volkswagen of America, Inc. and Apple Computers have dubbed the new initiative: "Pods Unite." The pairing begins today and will be featured prominently in a TV, local radio and newspaper, nationwide print, broadcast media and e-commerce campaign, through the end of September. iPod displays will also adorn Volkswagen dealer showrooms. "Apple's audience is a lot like our audience," said Karen Marderosian, Volkswagen Marketing Director. "A group that embraces something different, simple and unconventional. We think this initiative represents a natural alliance of two like-minded brands." More.

Tips for College-Bound PC Buyers In a guide for those pursuing higher education this Fall, BusinessWeek writes "Windows vs. Mac. This is a matter of preference. I use both regularly, and I'm not going to argue that one is inherently better than the other. Wi-Fi pushing beyond laptops Manufacturers are adding Wi-Fi wireless connections to media adapters that let home electronics equipment play music or show photos stored on personal computers, according to a ZDNN report. "Media adapters make it easier for consumers to play digital content on something other than the personal computer on which it's stored. Manufacturers are trying to capitalize on the popularity of digital cameras and downloadable digital music. Most adapters use cables to connect televisions and stereos to a personal computer." More.
