Apple TV delayed until March? VNUNet speculates that the Apple TV may not ship until March despite statements to the contrary from Apple spokespersons. The device was originally scheduled to start delivery this month. "Apple has denied rumors that its Apple TV set-top device will be delayed until March. A spokesperson for the company told VNUNet.com that it is 'business as usual' for Apple TV. 'We are still planning to release Apple TV in February as announced,' she said." More.

EA mulling iPhone games TG Daily reports that Electronic Arts senior vice president Mitch Lasky said that talks have already begun with Apple about producing games for the iPhone. "'We see a lot of the technology that we've utilised on the iPod side being incorporated into the iPhone,' said Lasky. Though EA has countless PC titles that it is not bringing to the Mac, the publisher has a good relationship with Apple. Last year, it became the first major company to offer games for the new generation of iPods. Cingular, the major service provider slated for the iPhone, carries dozens of EA Mobile's games, but Lasky suggests that the company is working on titles that will be iPhone exclusives, similar to how it handled the now-defunct N-Gage gaming phone from Nokia." Lionsgate Brings Its Movies To iTunes Variety reports on the addition of Lionsgate films to the iTunes Store library. "Apple's new policy of allowing studios to join iTunes with only their libraries and not new releases is finding takers as Lionsgate on Monday became the third to add its pics. ITunes' price for the download of new-release movies -- $12.99 the first week, $14.99 thereafter -- remains an impassable sticking point for all studios but Disney (in which Apple CEO Steve Jobs is the largest individual shareholder) since it requires a lower wholesale price than studios get for DVDs." Intel shows 80-core research chip ExtremeTech reports that Intel is showing off a research project that includes an experimental 80-core chip. "The CPU is a research project designed to develop an understanding of how a processor with large numbers of cores will handle calculations and, in particular, communications between the various cores, according to Jerry Bautista, director of Intel's Tera-Scale research program and Nitin Borkar, engineering manager and lab project lead."
