Apple article urges new games developers Macworld UK reports on a new Apple developer article on developing Mac OS X games using third-party games engines. "The article makes an open invitation to novice and experienced developers to build titles for the platform: 'Have you ever considering creating your own game? It's not as hard as you might think, thanks to some powerful and easy-to-learn game engines that run on Mac OS X. And with the explosion of casual and online gaming, you have new and broader access and distribution options so it's easier than ever to get your game into the hands of your customers, even if you aren't a professional developer,' the company says." Analyst: Apple could have 5.5% marketshare at year's end A Forbes article quotes an analyst who says Apple could achieve 5.5% personal computer marketshare by the end of the year. "Samir Bhavnani, director of research at Current Analysis [...] predicts that Apple will begin rebounding this fall. So does Daoud, who thinks the company?s share could shoot up to 5.5% by the end of the year." More.

A Trip to the New York City Apple Store A blogger posts his experience at the 24-hour Fifth Avenue Apple Store in New York City. "You may enter the Apple store either down a spiral staircase or an elevator. I recommend the staircase -- the elevator was constantly busy and the place was going full blast, even after 10pm on a weekday. There were people and long lines everywhere. Luckily there were staff everywhere too. The first impression that I got when I went down the stairs was that the store had been neatly divided in half -- on one side were the computer offerings, along with peripherals and software (seriously, more Mac software than I had ever seen in one place) while on the other side were the audio offerings. The 'Genius Bar' ran along a far wall. (You have Mac questions or problems? The Geniuses will answer them for you. There were also a number of classes, events, and even a kid's camp taking place.)"
