AirPort Express dissected iPodding.com has posted a pictorial dissection of the newly shipping AirPort Express, revealing that a "Broadcom BCM4712KFB wireless network processor does most of the work; routing data, driving the radio and print serving, while audio is passed to the Texas Instruments PCM2705 DAC which outputs analog and digital audio to the mini-stereo/optical jack." iTunes improvements coming to ward off competition The New York Times reports that "with the arrival of new competitors in online music this year and powerful new threats from the Microsoft Corporation and others, Apple is going to have to come up with a lot more than contests to keep market share. The company is focusing on making its music service as much an experience as a store, and is enhancing features to turn casual browsers into repeat customers." More.

"Phishing" security risk affects multiple browsers eWeek reports "A British Web developer has revealed a new form of a cross-site scripting, or XSS, attack that facilitates phishing activities. The attack, demonstrated by the developer on his own site, allows an attacker to execute scripts in the context of another Web site. Testing by eWEEK.com indicates that the attack works on both Internet Explorer on Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (Release Candidate 2) and on the Mozilla Firefox 0.9.1 browser." More.

Flat-panel, plasma prices drop Reuters reports that average U.S. prices for plasma televisions fell 3 percent in May, and prices of notebook personal computers and portable DVD players also marked strong declines in the month, leading prices for consumer electronics lower in a month when retailers cleared out inventory to stocked shelves with 'back-to-school' products.
