1 TB hard drives by end of 2006 XBit reports that hard disk manufacturer maker Hitachi Global Storage Technologies said in an interview that the world's first  TB hard drive would be unveiled as early as by the end of the year. "While the company did not say directly that it would unleash the giant storage device, it could be expected, as Hitachi needs to grab the technology leadership crown from Seagate Technologies. [...] The Hitachi executive indicated that the 1TB hard disk drives will come in 3.5" form-factor and will fit into typical personal computers. But Mr. Healy did not say whether his company, or Seagate Technologies will be the first to unveil the 1 TB storage device." More.

"For years, Apple avoided advertising the fact that Mac OS X hasn't come under a single virus attack 'in the wild.' But now Apple has changed its tune. [...] If the Macs market share is five percent, then shouldn't it have five percent of the viruses? It ought to have seen 5,700 viruses last year, not zero. Clearly, there's something else at work here, and I'll tell you what it is: Mac OS X is simply harder to hack." More.
