Microsoft Windows XP UPnP major security leak! This AP story states: "Microsoft's newest version of Windows, billed as the most secure ever, contains several serious flaws that allow hackers to steal or destroy a victim's data files across the Internet or implant rogue computer software. A Microsoft official acknowledged that the risk to consumers was unprecedented because the glitches allow hackers to seize control of all Windows XP operating system software without requiring a computer user to do anything except connect to the Internet." A fix is available.

Playing games A salon.com article looks at the state of gaming software for the Mac.

Coolpix flaw halts shipments A cnet.com article states: "Nikon has temporarily halted shipments of its Coolpix 5000 digital camera after discovering a software flaw that, under certain circumstances, can cripple the device if a user doesn't remove the lens cap before switching on the camera."

Xerox wins patent infringement suit against Palm A cnet.com article notes that Xerox has "won" a patent infringement suit against 3Com and Palm. Xerox said it will push for Palm to either stop making its handheld electronic organizers or license the handwriting-recognition technology from Xerox.

Meanwhile, Palm sales are down 44 percent compared with the same period a year ago.

EarthLink goes wireless EarthLink has unveiled its newest company on Thursday, a wireless Internet service provider named "Boingo."

QuickBooks survey Intuit is seeking feedback regarding interest in a Mac version of QuickBooks.
