SETI@Home down The following announcement has been posted to SETI@Home's web page: "At about 3:30 AM PST on 27 February an optical fiber cable connecting the U.C. Berkeley campus with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory was cut." One result of this is that SETI@Home participants "have been unable to contact the SETI@Home servers. Contractors are pulling new cable now. It's expected that service to SSL will be restored by Friday, 2 March 2001." (Thanks, Brian Rowe.)

G4 Cube with NVIDIA cards delayed Brian Soderstrom received the following email from Apple about his G4 Cube order: "We are continuing to experience a greater backlog delay than originally anticipated on the Power Mac G4 Cube with an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX video card. Our goal is still to ship your order as soon as possible, and we expect to ship your order by March 17th."

Linksys rebate hassle? Peter Gordon purchased a LinkSys router last December and submitted the requested material for a rebate. He has yet to receive the rebate. A reply from LinkSys stated: "Right now Linksys is having a high volume of Rebate Status Inquiries. I'm working on your case with our rebate center and are in the midst of rectifying the situation or obtaining status info for you."

Update: Other readers have confirmed this. However, David Dixon happily reports that he just got his rebate check yesterday. Fred Puhan just got his two days ago, from a purchase he made last April! So there is hope.

Save MicroNet Gary Bart, former Southeast Regional Manager at MicroNet, writes: "As some of you may have heard rumored, some of the former employees of MicroNet are trying to save the company. I am among them. We are actively seeking investors to rebuild MicroNet and make it the type of company it can and should be. He is interested in hearing from potential investors or anyone willing to write a testimonial.
