New & Noteworthy: Premiere 5.1c; G3 500; QuickStitch; Opcode

Adobe Premiere 5.1c is out The update has support for DV and Mac OS 9. "A beta plug-in for Premiere 5.1c allows users to take advantage of new Apple FireWire enablers allowing the user to batch capture, playback from the timeline, and export to tape using a DV Device." It also includes QuickTime effects plugins and several bug fixes.

G3 500 from PowerLogix PowerLogix has announced the shipment of new models of its PowerForce G3 processor upgrades, including a G3 500MHz processor.

QuickStitch 2.0 is out Enroute Imaging has just released QuickStitch 2.0, its "panorama software with 6 Megapixel output, multi-page spanning and QTVR support."

Opcode Disappearing? Bob Gore writes: "I ordered a Studio Vision upgrade recently, but received no confirmation of the order and have received no response to my several inquiries by web or telephone. It might be of interest to note that recent threads on DAW-MAC (a Mac-oriented digital audio mailing list) have speculated about the impending death of Opcode, which was acquired by Gibson Musical Instruments a year or so ago." A message from Opcode posted on MacInTouch claims they are still in business.
