Monster.com's lack of privacy A privacyfoundation.org article states: "The first investigative report on Monster.com discloses that company officials have discussed selling resume data to marketers; resumes sent to Monster.com - even when deleted at a later date by job seekers - may be saved and parsed for later use; resumes submitted by job seekers to corporate Websites, such as H&R Block, have been routinely sent to Monster.com without disclosure to job seekers; and that Monster supplies AOL Time Warner, a marketing partner, with information from job-search activities - including unique resume I.D. numbers."

Elite purchases ComputerWare name/assets Elite Computers & Software, an Apple Specialist located across from Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, CA, announced that it has purchased the rights to the name "ComputerWare." along with other certain trademarks and assets associated with the Mac-only chain that closed earlier this year. ComputerWare had been the largest Apple Specialist in the country, with 10 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area.

New PowerBooks on the horizon? A reader who works for a Mac retailer claims that all PowerBooks in their inventory have been put on D (for Discontinued) status. Assuming the report is accurate (which we could not confirm as yet), this typically signals that new models will soon be announced.

Dr. Bott and TechTracker Pro Dr. Bott LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of Macintosh peripherals has announced a partnership with TechTracker (the parent company of MacFixIt) whereby Dr. Bott will distribute TechTracker's Mac software update utility, TechTracker Pro.

Thought for the day Rumors continue to swirl regarding if and when we will see a flat-panel iMac. Months ago, there was also talk of a "headless" iMac, with a monitor detached. Hmmm...a headless iMac with a flat-panel display. What would it look like? In a way, Apple already had such a device. It was called the G4 Cube with the 15" flat-panel Studio Display.
