Maine students get iBooks The Associated Press reports that Governor Angus King's initiative to provide iBooks for every middle school student got underway last week despite budget woes that once threatened to derail the program before it started. King announced the arrival of the 17,000 laptops at 239 schools while urging students to take care of the new computers and not to misuse them. More.

Megahertz myth revisited In an article titled "The Megahertz Mentality Reigns," Washington Post columnist Rob Pegaro muses on Intel's Megahertz marketing tactcs and AMD and Motorola's offerings. An excerpt: "Is an eight-second difference in displaying a 104-page Portable Document Format file meaningful if you only open a PDF that big once a year? Does it matter how fast each computer boots up when both Mac OS X and Windows XP will run for weeks, if not months, without restarting?" More.

Bugdom 2 goes alpha Brian Greenstone of Pangea Software lets us know that Bugdom 2, has gone Alpha. He says "All of the levels are done and everything is working, so we'll be spending the next month completing the audio and replacing some temporary art with the real thing.
