Macworld returning to Boston? The Boston Herald is reporting confirmation that the Summer Macworld Expo will return to Boston, after weeks of speculation. "Sources say IDG World Expo will bring the show back to the Hub from New York in a comeback win for Boston, which lost the show in a devastating pullout in 1998. The return of one of the nation's top technology shows is expected to give a major lift to the city as it launches a giant $800 million exhibition center that has booked only a handful of shows so far." Apple's new Troy, MI Store Apple will hold a preview of the Apple retail store in Troy, Michigan for accredited media on Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m. (CDT). The Apple Store Grand Opening for the public will happen at 10:00 am. More.

Toshiba offers new portable DVD Burner Macworld UK reports on a new lightweight Toshiba DVD recorder. "Called the SD-R6012, the drive promises portable computers the burning capabilities enjoyed by their desktop counterparts. The solution is based on the DVD-R/RW format, which Toshiba calls the 'most widely compatible DVD standard.' It weighs just 0.2Kg." More.
