Hardware prices for education Apple's current education price list has the 533 MHz PPC G4 (in the pre-Quicksilver enclosure) available for about $1,099. There is also another new iMac that was not discussed at the keynote (presumably because it is limited to the education market). It is configured with a CD-ROM drive, 64 MB of RAM, a 500 MHz G3 with a 200 MHz L2 cache, and 20 GB hard drive, for $799. (Thanks, Rich Lenoce.)

iBooks scarce?: a follow-up Previously we reported on users who have found a long wait was in order if they wanted to purchase a new iBook (Dual USB). I believe the dealer here is still way behind on backorders."

Update: Evidently the scarcity< varies depending on the situation. Stephen Hart writes: "My son ordered a new iBook DVD from MacWarehouse yesterday. They said they have it in stock for immediate shipment."
