Maya to Director Alias|Wavefront has announced that it is developing an exporter plugin which can be used to transfer content directly from its award-winning Maya 3D animation and effects package into Macromedia Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio software. Scheduled for a May release, the Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter plugin serves as a high-speed Maya scene optimizer and export solution allowing for the rapid refinement of content for the soon-to-be released 3D version of the Shockwave web platform.

Newer to Sonnet? A reader has received word that the assets of the bankrupt NewerTech will be sold to Sonnet. Nothing has been officially announced, so consider this a rumor.
