Apple Reports First Quarter Profit of $38 Million From a press release: "Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2002 first quarter ended December 29, 2001. For the quarter, the Company posted a net profit of $38 million, or $.11 per diluted share. These results compare to a net loss of $195 million, or $.58 per diluted share, in the year ago quarter." This is quite good, considering the overall ill health of the tech sector. Additionally, Apple noted that advance sales of the new iMac were huge, with numbers that have not been seen since the release of the original iMac. The only down note was that revenue was slightly lower than expected. You can hear a rebroadcast of the related Financial Results Conference Call at this page.
