Apple hires open-source leader Apple has hired Jordan Hubbard, a key player in the development of the open-source FreeBSD version of Unix, to work on the elements of Mac OS X derived in part from FreeBSD. This CNET article reports that according to a post on an Apple mailing list, Core OS Engineering Director Brett Halle said Hubbard will be manager of BSD technologies at Apple.

Final Cut Pro creator speaks to user group Randy Ubillos, lead engineer and creator of Final Cut Pro will be the special guest at the next meeting of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group, Wednesday June 27 at the LA Film School in Hollywood. Details.

Adobe Premiere 6.0.1 is out in beta version. This update adds performance improvements for three-point editing, and speeds launch time when using a realtime board with hardware filter effects. Video preview files are now preserved, pixel aspects are now properly stored, and it corrects sync problems.

EarthLink price hike Effective August 1st EarthLink dialup subscribers will pay 2 dollars a month more for the service. New users will begin paying the new price next month.
