Apple confirms 800DPs shipping We note this morning that Apple has officially confirmed in this press release that they are now shipping the Dual 800 MHz G4 processor Macs, as we suspected when we posted this item last Thursday.

Apple and Adobe at MacFest MacWorld UK reports that Apple and Adobe have confirmed they will be attending the MacFest Roadshow in Leeds and Birmingham this September.

REALbasic 3.5 is out. New features in this MacFixIt Toolbox Award-winning utility include Microsoft Office Automation, RbScript, a 3D engine, a regular expression engine, a new tips window, and much more.

APC Tracker 1.0 is a APCUPS compatible client application that shuts down a Macintosh computer properly if the power is interrupted. It requires an APCUPS server connected to an APC power supply.

Sony Unveils Full Line of 24X CD-RW Drives Expected to be available in October, Sony has announced a line of CD-RW drives which feature FireWire, USB 2.0, and Memory Stick support. The software bundled with the drives includes Recorder Gold, ArcSoft's PhotoBase, PhotoStudio, and VideoImpression, Musicmatch Jukebox, and Retrospect Express.

Handspring cuts prices on PDAs Handspring has lowered prices for its three non-color Visors. The entry level Visor is now $129, the mid-level Visor Deluxe is $169, and the Platinum is now only $199, which are cuts of $20, $30, and $50 respectively. The color screen Visor Prism remains $399.

No new hardware in Paris next month MacCentral reports that in a very unusual move, Apple has released information on a Steve Jobs keynote in advance. Giving a preview of a keynote is a move we strongly agree with, given the post-keynote backlash after last month's highly anticipated keynote in New York. The short summary is no new hardware announcements planned. The talk will cover Mac OS X 10.1 and iDVD 2.

Hotmail security leak A BBC article notes: "Hackers have exposed a security flaw which allows you to read other people's emails in Hotmail."

AirSnort can get wireless passwords A wired.com article continues the media assault on wireless security problems. It states: "Wireless networks are a little less secure today with the public release of AirSnort, a tool that can surreptitiously grab and analyze data moving across just about every major wireless network. When enough information has been captured, AirSnort can then piece together the system's master password." [See also yesterday's mention of a New York Times article and this recent item.]
