Netscape Communicator 4.72 is out; problems downloading it noted

CNET staff
Netscape Communicator 4.72 is out. It comes in a 56 bit and 128 bit encryption version. It requires a Power Mac running System 7.6.1 or later. A few readers found that the 128-bit file was listed as corrupt after the download is complete. Steven Kapplin notes: "In frustration, I opened Internet Explorer 4.5 and, voila! IE downloaded the 128-bit version without any hitches." [This was also noted with the previous version of Communicator.] Michael Bristol suggest: The problem with the download stems from the stuffing. Sending the download to MacLink Plus will fix the problem of the "creator not matching the settings." Once that it done, installation works fine." Robert Busan writes: "When I tried to use Smart Update, it told me I already had the latest version when in reality I have version 4.7." Robert Cormier suggests: "In the past, we needed reverse DNS to download 128 bit version of Netscape. I tried with a non recognizable IP and it did not work. When I reverted to a reverse DNS recognizable version it is downloading." [See this previous MacFixIt item.] Several readers wrote to say that they had no problems here at all. So, the question is...are you feeling lucky?
