Netscape Communicator 4.5.1 (40-bit security version) is out. It requires Mac OS 7.6 or later.

Netscape's Steve Dagley writes that this release fixes "the Mac crash when printing to some HP printers (passing an empty rectangle to some HP printer drivers results in a divide by zero error/crash)."

Steve also notes: (1) The initial upload of the files were corrupted. Corrected installers are now online; (2) The 4.51 Smart Update files were not affected by the problem; (3) The 128-bit security versions should be online very soon (perhaps today).

David Converse found that the Smart Update went fine except that it tried to install Internet Config 1.4 on his PowerBook G3 running OS 8.5.1. Jerome Douaze confirms this. Mac OS 8.5.x should use a 2.x version of Internet Config (such as the version that comes with Mac OS 8.5.x.).

As reported by several readers, the Update also tries to install Expander 4.5, even if you have Expander 5.x already installed. (Given all the heat Expander has taken recently, I am not sure whether this should be considered a positive or a negative.)
