Netscape 6 scroll wheel bug remains Two MacFixIt readers agree that, after installing the latest version of Netscape Navigator 6.0, the scroll wheel of the Intellimouse Explorer still does not scroll in Netscape 6 (the problem was also in previous preview versions). The wheel operated properly in Netscape 4.0.8. By the way, it now appears clear that this is the release version of Netscape 6, not a preview version. Update: Dana Ahlgren informs us that Kensington's Scroll Mouse also does not work with Netscape 6. iBook SE FireWire File Sharing glitch with DVDs? Peter Trinder writes: "If File Sharing is enabled, DVDs will not play. The DVD player stalls when it says Loading. If you turn off File Sharing, then the loading will continue and put up the DVD Menu or whatever it loads first." Apple recommends turning off File Sharing before viewing DVDs, but we don't recall previous reports that DVDs will not play at all if File Sharing is on. 3dfx web site crashes Mac Aaron Smith reports (and we confirm) that if you go to the 3dfx web site, click on the button in the center of the page for the Voodoo 5 Mac card, and then click on the "Buy It!" in the next page, your mac will crash (at least with Explorer and iCab). As the site uses Java, we suspect this is somehow involved. However, disabling Java did not change the situation for Aaron. Photoshop 5.5 font problem? Michael Erb found that the Skia and Hoefler fonts caused problems in Photoshop 5.5: "When entering text using either of these fonts, I cannot use numbers or many other characters such as period, comma, colon, quotes and others. Nothing happens when I attempt to key in numerical characters or the previously mentioned characters, only a system beep. All letters seem to enter just fine however. I have tried using these two fonts in ImageReady 2.0 with the same results. The fonts will work just fine in Illustrator 8 and PageMaker 6.5 . Another symptom is that kerning is grayed out for these two fonts." Update: Phil Parodayco confirmed this, adding: "The only way I've found to deal with them is to enter all text/numbers/punctuation in a common font (say, Helvetica) then select the whole string and change the font to Hoefler or Skia. Everything is preserved. I have to change back to a common font again in order to edit those characters however." However, neither Steven Rodoletz nor Tom Kacvinsky could not duplicate the problem.
