"Jessica Jones" is the next Marvel series coming to Netflix in 2015. In advance of its November 20 debut, Netflix shared first a brief teaser for the series and now a series of still pictures from the series showing important characters.

Front and center is Jessica Jones herself, played by Krysten Ritter. Jones gets her superhero powers after the family's car crashes into a military vehicle carrying an experimental liquid, a crash that kills her parents and brother. You can get more of Jones' backstory from Marvel.

Jones begins a career as the superhero Jewel, but it comes to a tragic end at the hands of the Purple Man (played by David Tennant). Jones then tries to make a new life as a private investigator by opening up her own agency, Alias Investigations. The Netflix series is based on Marvel's Alias comic series, which follows Jones' adventures as a PI.

Also featured are Mike Colter (Luke Cage) -- read CNET's interview with Colter here -- as well as Rachel Taylor (Patsy/Hellcat) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Harper).

"Jessica Jones" is the second of five Marvel-based Netflix original series after "Daredevil," with series dedicated to the characters Luke Cage and Iron Fist to follow. Once those runs are complete, the four characters will team up for the ensemble series "The Defenders."

All 13 episodes of Netflix's "Jessica Jones" series will be available for binge watching at 12:01 a.m. PT on November 20 in the US and internationally.
