Netflix streaming to launch in Canada tomorrow?

Netflix could launch its instant-streaming service as early as tomorrow, a report from The Hollywood Reporter suggests.

According to the publication, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings will be speaking in Toronto tomorrow to launch the company's streaming service in Canada. A Netflix spokesman said in a phone conversation with CNET that Hastings will be in Toronto tomorrow to discuss details about the company's streaming service, but he stopped short of confirming that it would launch tomorrow.

The availability in Canada of Netflix's streaming offering, which is now available on all three video game consoles and several televisions and set-top boxes, was originally announced back in July. At the time, Netflix said Canadian customers would only be able to watch content on its streaming service. The company said it would not be offering physical-media rentals in Canada.

As in the United States, Canadian Netflix customers will be required to pay a "low monthly fee" to access the content on "a range of consumers electronic devices capable of streaming from Netflix," the company said at the time. It did not specify how much the service would cost nor which devices it would be made available on. Those details could be revealed tomorrow by Hastings.
