NetDoubler 1.5.1 problem with QuarkXPress: a confirmation from Asante

CNET staff
After our previous posting on Quark files getting corrupted while running NetDoubler, we were contacted by Jay Cowan of Asante Technologies, who has been busy working trying to track down and solve this issue. He writes: "We are pretty sure we know where this bug crept into the final release and expect a quick maintenance release fix, which we will post on our web site."

For the moment, the NetDoubler page on their web site states: "Asante has verified a bug affecting QuarkXPress 4.x and NetDoubler 1.5.1 (Mac). This bug causes a modification to files saved over a network that makes them unable to be reopened. The user will get a -36 I/O disk error or -108 Out of Memory error when attempting to reopen the file. We have not been able to duplicate this same problem with QuarkXPress 3.3x, but are also advising caution with this version until we can fully retest it. We recommend turning off NetDoubler 1.5.1 when using QuarkXpress until we have a fix for this bug." (Thanks, Will Enestvedt.)
