NetBank merger leaves phones busy
NetBank said Thursday it has struggled during the past few days to keep up with the flood of phone calls it has received after adding thousands of new accounts because of a merger. NetBank, which acquired rival CompuBank's 50,000 customer accounts in March, completed migrating the accounts last weekend. Many customers with general questions or inquiring about their debit cards and checks were met with busy signals. Eve McDowell, director of marketing for NetBank, based in Alpharetta, Ga., said the company had hired extra customer service workers to handle the "higher- than-normal call volumes," adding that the bank hopes the heavy volume will subside by the end of the week. "Anytime you have a conversion, you have issues that need to be dealt with," McDowell said.
