Net garage sale sells software surplus

The days of pulling out the station wagon and fighting with early risers for great deals at garage sales are over. Starting tomorrow, you can go to a garage sale online.

The days of pulling out the station wagon and fighting with early risers for great deals at garage sales are over. Starting tomorrow, you can go to a garage sale in the privacy of your own home or office.

Maxis, the makers of SimCity, plan to have a garage sale on the Internet to make room for new products. The goods--including software titles like SimTown and SimTower--will sell for less than $15.

Some of the software is not in its original packaging, but is not defective. All include a 30-day money back guarantee, according to Karen Fagen, communications specialist for Maxis. "Some of the products will be missing boxes, but they are our A-list products."

The garage door will close on November 18 or when the software is gone.
