Mounting a RAM Disk after starting up from a bootable CD

CNET staff
It can be convenient to have a RAM Disk available after booting from a CD. "For instance, you might want to optimize your hard disk and you don't have a bootable CD containing the disk optimizer. Most optimizers cannot optimize your hard disk if you start up from your hard disk or if you are running a copy of of the optimizer located on your hard disk. It would be convenient to start up from the Mac OS CD and run the optimizer from a RAM disk." Ask Al describes a trick using Disk First Aid that allows you to do this.
