The handset isn't part of the top-end spectrum of new smartphones in terms of price, with Optus offering the Razr V for AU$4 per month on an AU$35 plan.

Like the Razr launched last year, the Razr V is wrapped in a Kevlar chassis with a splash-proof coating protecting the handset from liquids. It has a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, and is powered by the Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich. Under the hood, the Razr V has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a microSD card slot.

It has been a quiet year for Motorola, especially in Australia, where we've seen only one new phone release so far — the Defy Mini — plus the Xoom 2 Android-powered tablet.
