More on Transferring iPhoto Libraries

CNET staff

Yesterday we noted a problem with moving iPhoto libraries from one machine to another, and a workaround. We've now confirmed that the problem only affects iPhoto libraries that are transferred from Mac OS X 10.1.x volumes to Mac OS X 10.2.x volumes.

Tom Wang notes an alternative workaround that does not require any third-party software:

"Another solution is to do a Finder copy in OS 9, which will copy all the invisible files for you. If you don't have OS 9 installed on your machine, you could probably make the copy while booted from an OS 9 CD.

"I just installed Jaguar on a separate partition from my 10.1.5 installation, and I was able to migrate my iPhoto library with all associated albums etc. by first booting into my OS 9 partition. I keep all three around just in case I run into problems like this."
