More iPhone OS 2.0 details: screenshots of mass email delete; Cisco VPN

Ben Wilson

New screenshots depicting a leaked copy of iPhone OS 2.0 (labeled version 1.2 on the iPhone itself -- 2.0 may actually be a different, future release) have emerged after a brief video of the OS was posted this morning. The new screenshots -- posted iPhone developer "sam," to this forum thread and hosted by ImageShack, depict the mass email deletion function, the Cisco VPN setup screen, and the home screen with App Store icon.

"sam" notes that the 2.0 release of which he posted screenshots does not include any rumored search functionality.

Apple's developer documentation reveals some other interesting new features that will be included with iPhone OS 2.0, due in June, or perhaps an earlier OS release. The functions are already included in the "Aspen Emulator" included with the iPhone SDK, which carries OS version 1.2. These include support for Bonjour, full-screen mode in Safari, support for SVG and more.

iPhone OS 2.0 will, of course, include the ability to run third-party iPhone applications developed with Apple's newly available SDK.
