More good news re USB DDK 1.3f9 drivers

Previously, we posted an item describing success in using a USB Cable USB PC card adapter - if you also used Apple's USB DDK v. 1.3f9. We have two follow-up replies:

Suk-Hyun Hong found that the Macally USB PC card adapter he ordered actually arrived as a PCally card, but he kept it anyway. "I downloaded the USB DDK 1.3f9 and installed it. PC card was recognized as USB with USB logo on the PC card's icon. USB mouse and keyboard worked flawlessly." The only problem was with the Gravis Gamepad Pro, which did not seem to like DDK 1.3f9, no matter what the setup (the Gamepad also did not work with these drivers when connected to an iMac.) However, he got the Gamepad to work after he installed "USB Joystick Overdrive" extension (included with USB Overdrive).

Robert Zusman was had connected his Epson printer to his Keyspan USB card. The printer would not even show up as a choice in the Chooser. He had the Epson PrintClass extensions installed (that Apple recommends disabling when running Mac OS 8.6), so that may have been the source of the problem. However, updating the the 1.3f9 USB drivers fixed this problem as well as another minor glitch he was having with his SanDisk flash card reader.

Looks like these new drivers will be worth the wait. For now, they are still considered to be "betaware" and are intended mainly for developers.
