If you're old enough to remember R.B.I. Baseball, the classic Nintendo game, you're old enough to be excited by this news: R.B.I. Baseball has been rebooted for next-generation platforms, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and iOS.

In particular, R.B.I. Baseball 14 for iOS revives the classic franchise for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. It's a fast-moving, arcade-style ballgame, but with the full weight of Major League Baseball behind it.

Thus you get to play with (and as) all 30 MLB teams and nearly 500 current players. The game offers season, postseason, and exhibition modes, and you can unlock "retro" team jerseys by completing various challenges in season mode.

In keeping with the spirit of the original, R.B.I. Baseball 14 relies on simple controls: a joystick and buttons for batting and fielding.

The iOS version costs $4.99. (It's also currently available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for $20 each.) It's "coming this spring" for Android, PS4, and Xbox One, according to MLB.

Is this the mobile baseball experience you've been waiting for? Are there other iOS baseball games you like better? Share your thoughts in the comments.
