Mighty Mouse Special Report: Jumping/erratic cursor movement (not caused by surface)
Several users have reported problems with erratic cursor behavior that cannot be attributed to problematic tracking surfaces (as covered elsewhere in this report), since the erratic behavior continues even when the mouse is disconnected in some cases.
MacFixIt reader John Neely writes:
"I have been having similar problems with the Mighty Mouse, but even more puzzling. I have noticed drifting and jumping of the cursor, even when not moving the mouse. Even more interesting, the jumping and drifting continues to happen after I disconnect the mouse and am "mouseless". Restarting and going back to my wireless Apple mouse gives me a stable cursor again."
In some cases, using one of the following alternative mouse drivers will result in elimination of the erratic tracking behavior:
