Might As Well Read 'em!!

After getting the box open and realizing I couldn't play with the phone without charging it first I set the beauty aside and picked up the manuals. While I'm not a fan of manuals sent with things that need to be assembled (I prefer to use my own logic for assembly) I do enjoy a quick flip through the quick-start guides that come with gadgets. It's nice to have a basic idea of where the buttons and ports are before you dive in!

Palm keeps their manuals short and sweet. You aren't overwhelmed with a book. In five minutes you know everything you need to get started.

Because I was on my way out of town when Fed-Ex delivered the box I couldn't charge it till later that afternoon when I arrived at my destination. Do you have any clue how not-fun it is to stare at this shiny rock-like gadget and not even be able to power it on??? Frustrating I tell you. Downright frustrating!

Then I get where I'm going and the hotel is in a Sprint Roaming area, which means no internet connection to set up my Palm Account. The hotel had free wi-fi but I couldn't use that cause I couldn't access the tools on the phone until the Palm Account was set up. So far, this has been my only disappointment. I understand the Palm Account is really cool for backing up your life (which is what my phone holds...) but I think you should have the option of skipping the setup and using the phone's features.

Once I finally got the Palm account setup, I was good to go. Because I'd looked over the manuals and I watched the cool introduction video that played when I powered on the Pre I was ready to get started using the phone...

In future posts I'll be comparing the Pre to my Instinct and talking about why the Pre shouldn't be compared to the iPhone!
