Xbox 360 owners will get more from Microsoft for the holidays than a lump of coal.

A new promotion dubbed Countdown to 2014 slashes the prices of Xbox 360 games, add-ons, avatars and other content downloaded from the Xbox Game Store. Launching Tuesday and lasting until the end of the year, the sale will offer a different title each day and only for that day.

The promotion kicks off Tuesday with 75 percent off Borderlands 2, bringing the price down to $7.49. A season pass to Borderlands 2 is 33 percent less, while the prices for add-ons to Vault Hunter Upgrade 2, Psycho Pack, and Headhunter 1: Bloody Harvest have been slashed in half.

Starting December 23, an array of other on-demand titles will also be discounted, including NHL 14, Bioshock Infinite, Madagascar 3, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, and X-Men: The Official Game.

With all the buzz surrounding the Xbox One, it's good to see Microsoft isn't playing Scrooge when it comes to faithful Xbox 360 owners.
