Is it time for a newer, smaller addition to the Surface family? The so-called Surface Mini? Could be.

Microsoft has just invited us to a "small gathering" the morning of May 20 in New York City. We don't have any further details now, but if you enjoy cheeky attempts at wordplay, this could be a strong indication that a Surface device in the popular 7- to 8-inch form factor could be finally making an appearance.

Samsung, Apple, and Google have all had plenty of success with tablets in this size, and a smaller Surface could be a boon for those looking for a somewhat more portable take on the productivity-focused slate. What exactly we'll see remains to be seen, but you can be sure we'll be there to bring you the news as it happens.
