The Microsoft MacBU has provided MacFixIt with a new FAQ for the Exchange-enabled version of Entourage v.X. The document is not yet available on the Microsoft Web site, and contains several useful troubleshooting tips for the e-mail client in question and answer format. Among them:

"Q. Setup has failed. What do I do?

"A. Check to see if you have first installed Microsoft Office v. X 10.1.2 Update before installing Microsoft Exchange Update for Entourage X (Office v. X 10.1.4 Update). To do so, open any Microsoft Office application, click on the Word, Entourage, Excel, or PowerPoint menu, and then click About. If you are currently running a version of Microsoft Office v. X earlier than 10.1.2, you must first install Microsoft Office v. X 10.1.2 Update before installing Microsoft Exchange Update for Entourage X (Office v. X 10.1.4 Update). This download is available from the download section of http://www.microsoft.com/mac. (Installing the 10.1.3 update is not necessary as the components of the 10.1.3 update are included in the 10.1.4 update).

"Q. How do I access and import my .pst files?

"A. Exchange Update for Entourage X cannot currently import .pst files directly. Microsoft's Mac BU is committed to offering the Mac community a great line of products, and we will continue to work with our customers to determine top future development priorities. (For a workaround, consult Help in Exchange Update for Entourage X.)"

There are also some indicators regarding the future of the MacBU product line-up:

"Q. Do you intend to make future improvements to Exchange Update for Entourage X?

"A. The Mac BU is committed to creating the best productivity software suite on the Mac. We are already developing the next versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage.

"Q. Do you intend to make Outlook for the Mac?

"A. The Mac BU has developed Entourage to be the best all-around e-mail and personal information manager (PIM) designed specifically for Mac customers. We speak with thousands of customers who use their Macs in business, education, and at home to determine the right features and priorities. We will continue to develop Entourage to meet the needs of these customers. We do not have plans to make a version of Outlook for the Mac
