Microsoft Office 2004 11.3 (#7): Word: Unexpected quits

Word: Unexpected quits Some users have reported unexpected quits from Word after applying the Office 2004 11.3 updater. One reader writes:

"Since updating to Office 11.3, I've had the 'Microsoft Word needs to close. We  apologize for the inconvenience.'  message three times. Removing all Microsoft program files and re-installing works temporarily."

Possible solutions

  • Close Word.
  • Open the Office 2004 folder. There should be a folder named "Templates".
  • Open Templates folder.
  • Drag the document "Normal" to your desktop.
  • Navigate to this folder: Microsoft Office X Office Startup Word, drag all of the files in it (if there are files in it) to the desktop.
  • Start Word and check.
Delete preference files/folders Try dragging the following files/folders to the trash:
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Word.plist
  • ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
