Microsoft Office 2004 11.3.4 released: Stability, security enhancements

The Microsoft MacBU has released Office 2004 11.3.4, an update for the popular productivity suite that includes the following enhancements:

Improvements for all Office 2004 applications This update fixes vulnerabilities in Office 2004 that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code.

Improvements for Entourage 2004 This update provides the Junk E-mail Filter in Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac with a more current definition of which e-mail messages are considered junk e-mail.

Files modified by the updater include:

• Junk E-mail Protection 11.3.4
• Microsoft Component Plugin 11.3.4
• Microsoft Word 11.3.4

Before applying this update, make sure you have done the following:

• Applied the Office 2004 11.3.3 updater
• Quit all open Microsoft Office applications, including Office Notifications. To be extra cautious, launch Activity Monitor (located in Applications/Utilities) and quit any processes associated with Office.
• Logged in as an administrator

The new release is available through Microsoft's AutoUpdate or as a 12.5 MB standalone download.
