More appointment scheduling issues/time zone discrepancies

Appointments shifted one hour We previously noted an issue where scheduled appointments on the calendar are shifted to one hour later than the original time.

In particular, all appointments entered into Entourage for 3 weeks in March, 2007 only (3/11/2007 - 3/31/2007) have the shifted time.

The time shift coincides with with the new start dates of daylight saving time. Pre-2007, daylight saving time is invoked on he last Sunday in March or the first Sunday in April. Post-2007, daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday in March.

While this partially explains the shift beginning on March 11th, 2007, we're not sure why appointments after March 31st, 2007 are not shifted as well.

Time-zone discrepancies We continue to report on an issue with synchronizing appointments between Exchange servers in one time zone, and Macs in a different time zone, where appointments do not automatically switch their time zone setting when transferred to the Mac (resulting in a three-hour discrepancy). This is an issue that does not affect Windows systems running Outlook, which properly adjust appointments when the time zone differs.

MacFixIt reader Mark writes:

"Meeting requests sent to an Entourage user who lives outside the time zone of their Exchange server display correctly in the calendar in the Daily, Weekly, Monthly view.  However if you double click on the event the times shown will be local to the Exchange server, not the user.

"Additionally, when an Entourage user receives a meeting request, the subject line of the e-mail will display the Exchange server's local time first, then other time zones after: at the very end of the line (sometimes not seen unless you double click on the mail and open it in its own window) it will show the local time in parenthesis.  "

"We have spoken to Microsoft about this and they claimed that the 11.2.5 update fixed the issue.  We sent them several examples from our offices around the globe illustrating that the problem still persists."

We've now received information from an anonymous source indicating that this issue has been resolved by a hotfix that can be applied to Exchange server set-ups. The hotfix should be available shortly.

Problems accepting meeting requests in Entourage from Vista/Office 2007 Meanwhile, some users have reported issues accepting meeting requests from users working with Office 2007 under Windows Vista.

MacFixIt reader Vance writes:

"I do a lot of work with Microsoft, and they send me meeting requests all the time.  Until recently everything worked great, I clicked the ?accept? button and it popped onto my Entourage calendar.  The problem is that more and more of my clients are switching to the Vista and Office 2007 beta, and when they send me a meeting request there is no 'accept' button, and the meeting day and time and location info is not shown anywhere.  In fact the only place I can find it is to view source, and then manually add it to the calendar.  I spend 40 minutes on the phone with MS tech support today, and they are going to try to get this bug report to the right people.  But I was hoping that you could mention it, because the Mac Business Unit is surely reading your site every day...
