Reminder: Microsoft Office applications will not show version 11.2.6 after being updated MacFixIt reader Doug writes:

"My problem is with the recent Office 2004 11.2.6 update. I had Entourage 11.2.5 installed on my Intel iMac, and updated to 11.2.6 via Microsoft AutoUpdate. According to the installation, it was a success. The problem is, when I am in Entourage and click on 'Get Info,' 11.2.5 is still displayed.  Yet, the Microsoft Updater Log informs me the 11.2.6 installation was a success. I have reinstalled 11.2.6 many times, yet still get the 11.2.5 notice in Entourage."

Note that after updating, individual Office applications will not show an updated version number (remaining at version 11.2.5). The only components affected by this update are "Microsoft Component Plugin" and "Microsoft Office." You can review the updater log file in the Microsoft Office 2004/Updater Logs folder on your hard disk to see the list of updated files.

Problems with inserted graphics Some users are reporting issues with imported, inline graphics after updating to Office 2004 11.2.6.

MacFixIt reader Chris Pryor writes:

"I'm using a G5 2.7 GHZ tower with System 10.4.7. I just recently installed the new Microsoft update for Office 2004. Since the update, trying to insert a WMF graphic causes the WMF import filter in the menu to go crazy. If there are a several WMF files in a folder, the filter will try to render all of them regardless of which one you?re trying to import. If you have a folder full of WMF files for use in Word or PowerPoint documents, the filter goes absolutely haywire and stays in an endless loop of rendering all the WMFs over and over.

'I trashed the whole Word 2004 folder and then restored it from a pre-updated backup disk. The filter now works fine, the menus work properly, and WMF graphics insert with no problem in both Word and PowerPoint. The update seems to have done something weird to the import filters or the menu rendering."
