Microsoft Office 2004 11.2.4 (#3): Does not fix Excel scrolling problem; Crashes while installing -- one fix

CNET staff

Does not fix Excel scrolling problem It appears that the recently released Office 2004 11.2.4 update does not resolve a previously covered Excel directional scrolling issue occurring on Intel-based Macs.

MacFixIt reader Andrew Springer writes:

"This update doesn't fix the Excel scrolling problem I have on my MacBook Pro. I noticed it as soon as I received the MacBook (about 6 weeks ago). If you use two fingers on the trackpad to scroll in Excel, you can?t scroll down slowly. Fast scrolling works, but trying to scroll down slowly just scrolls upwards. Equally, while you can scroll left and right while doing this it also scrolls upwards. Scrolling upwards always works fine."

Crashes while installing -- one fix Several readers have reported that the Office 2004 11.2.4 updater unexpectedly quits partway through the installation process.

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by removing the file DYMOWordAddin.dot from the directory:

/Library/Frameworks

This is a file associated with the Dymo LabelMaker that is apparently not compatible with Intel-based Macs, and can cause problems during the Office update process.
